Reveal New options for the 2012 3-series will include hybrid variants as well as the latest version of BMW’s Efficient Dynamics. The X-Drive AWD system is likely to gain favour thanks to a redesign of the system to reduce weight, which will only increase fuel consumption by 0.5L per 100km over RWD models. Other features that may make it to production include night-vision devices, a heads-up display and radar safety systems.

3 Series is the main cash source, subsequently don’t look for exaggerated styling since the 3er has to appeal to an extremely broad U.S.market. Expect the image of the car to express the styling idioms implemented in the 5 or 7 Series.
Suspension represents a double-joint, spring-strut (MacPherson strut) up front, multi-link setup in the rear. Engine versions should be, a new turbocharged, inline four cylinder in the 328i and the N55 turbo aspirated six in the 335i and the as expected the M3. It is not excluded that the Dynamic Handling Package will be available as an option.
Automatic transmission – ZF eight speed (8HP), manual transmission almost certainly will be available for the 335i at least.

BMW avail themselves of two other options that the 8HP can provide, with a hybrid drivetrain (an electric motor nose on the transmission and additional batteries). If a hybrid is done – as it is expected to be, it should be on the 328i with stop/start technology included .
