BMW is recalling 2120 X5 xdrive 35d sport untility vehicles in north america yesterday, the reason is fuel heater could overload and possibly cause a fire.

it is also by the national highway tranportation safety administration findings, that the model 2009 vihicles were made betwen oct.1 ,2008 and june 12, 2009 and are equipped with a diesel engine.

NTHSA said that the vehicle's fuel-filter heater, used for heating up diesel fuel in cold temperature, could electricity overload and become permanentlly activated even when the car is turned off. that could to a dead battry, or possibly a vehicle fire.

for this problem bmw has been told the NHTSA that it will inform to the owners. and they also order the dealer to replace the fuel filter heater free of charge
