700 cm3 Wrapped Technology: Honda unveils 2012 joker!

A few days ago, we published the first information and photomontages on a new model Honda motorcycle scooter "modular" expected for 2012 and has a 700 cm3 engine. The manufacturer has now confirm: the twin high-tech features of the DCT is presented here in the Scooter Integra. New info!

Our sources were faithful once again (very) well-informed: we excluded new moto scooter last week of 2012 was not a bluff but already spoke faithfully what Honda will present the next exhibition in Milan ( EICMA) and Paris: an all-new 700 cm3 engine with two cylinders, with technology directly derived from the automotive and uncommon in this age of displacement, and called for more motorized models, motorcycles - and roadster trail of According to our information - and Maxiscooter Honda Integra 700.
Honda 700 cm3 Wrapped Technology

Half of Jazz for two motorcycles and a scooter

What has he special this engine? No doubt its very close relationship with his counterpart on the known 1.4-liter Honda Jazz, a small city car. For the occasion, Honda has somehow cut the block in half by keeping the values of the original bore stroke (73 x 80 mm). Thus, this reduced to 700 cm3 engine - it retains two cylinders - should logically provide reduced performance especially, in the range of 50 hp. Here we see at first that its cylinders are clearly tilted to the front (62 °), while the crankcase has a rather large transmission. Honda says it can accommodate either a conventional gearbox 6-speed automatic or the famous double-clutch DCT (already known on the VFR 1200 in particular), but here in a second generation - more lightweight, compact and easy to level of hydraulics.
This obviously confirms that this engine will power models: we already know that endows the scooter Integra, but our sources also report a roadster and a trail, two types of motorcycle very popular in Europe (Honda says as three in his release). An option more credible than the manufacturer announced including a high torque low revs and fuel consumption very low (27 km per liter, or a little less than 4 km according to the manufacturer l./100 ).

Common base engine = lower costs and more techno
To lower consumption, Honda has unsurprisingly worked to reduce friction and lower the weight of moving parts (the valve rockers - rockers or - here for the first time made of aluminum). In addition, we see here that the catalytic cartridge is mounted directly output receiver. In addition, a setting at 270 ° (with balance shaft) promises to bring the engine to conduct live, close to the current V twin. We also see clearly that the twin has only a single injector body for two intake ducts, Honda promising a performance at least comparable to that of a conventional system. In addition, the distribution to a single overhead cam (as on the CRF Cross for example) would be associated with a mechanism for varying values of valve opening, type VTEC.
In short, through this first technical review, highlighting a great combination of technologies typical of the world's leading manufacturer, we can see clearly high ambitions: to introduce a living engine, sufficient performance, low emissions and flexible so that it can fit different models . That should thus enable the manufacturer to offer some traditional technologies in the medium displacement, while containing costs. The question is whether the broad audience will be quite the appointment. A follow soon on the stations.
