Home > WOT > Mazda6 Diesel Delay Related to Performance Targets We've all been wondering what the hold-up is on the U.S. launch of the 2014 Mazda6 diesel, and while it had something to do with emissions, the Japanese automaker told Automobile Magazine the delays are also related to the diesel engine's performance.
that it still wasn't "zoom-zoom enough." Considering Mazda will be the first Asian automaker to offer a diesel engine option in a modern passenger car in the U.S., the diesel powerplant is a big deal for the automaker. With so much riding on the engine, it's understandable Mazda wants to get it right since a poor-performing diesel could end up giving the brand a bad name. Mazda also risks reversing all the efforts certain automakers such as Volkswagen have made into trying to gain consumer acceptance of modern diesel engines.
