BMW renews smooth the series with a Type 3 F30 greater and more refined design. It will soon welcome a hybrid but does not surprise on petrol and diesel models.
With this sixth-generation 3 Series, BMW opts for continuity. A story that begins in 1975 with the E21 version, which was built with many technical and stylistic developments. On this 2012 generation, the visual break is less than the current model released in 2005. Aesthetically, the proportions are strictly conserved and the differences are in the details. Most striking is his nose, thinner, reminiscent of the new series 6. Like the latter, the type F30 wins overall fluidity and elegance.
Side measurements, the new Series 3 takes advantage of the Mercedes C-Class, winning 9 inch, to arrive at 4m62. Gain utilized in the trunk with a volume of 20 liters that believes. And yet, the sedan boasts a weight loss of up to 40 pounds. The aerodynamics was worked, especially at the base, which now benefits from streamlined parts. The CX is affected with a value of 0.26.
The hybrid engine of the series 5
Launch in spring 2012, it will be available with four engines, all with TwinPower technology.
Two diesel taken from the older generation but optimized: 320d EfficientDynamics (2 liter, 4 cylinder, 120 horsepower, and 109gC02/km 4.1 l/100 km) and 320d (2 liter, 4 cylinder, 135 horsepower, and 119gCO2/km 4.5 l/100 km). To lower consumption, BMW has planned in series, one function "ECO PRO." This mode supports an economic driving style by adapting the engine management and optimizing the operation of heating, air conditioning and heated seats.
BMW also uses the same formula of customization on a recent series with three finishing lines "Sport", "Luxury" and "Modern", each giving rise to some specific aesthetic.
Plethora of new equipment
There are of course new high-tech equipment inherited from the upper segments. The head-up display, adaptive controller with the function "stop & go" (the car automatically adjusts to the pace of the preceding vehicle in traffic, to stop), a camera with a 360 degree view around the car and an amazing trunk. This feature allows you to trigger the opening of the lid of the trunk with a flick of the foot directed to the bumper, with a sensor located in this element. Of course, the system only works if the key is detected without close contact.
Just like the recent series 1, 3 evolves smoothly. If the dynamic qualities are always what you should keep all its appeal against the two competing Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4.
