Without denying its genes compact MPV, the new Mercedes B returns to a more dynamic version and increasingly Premium. Widely acclaimed by the French (France represents 10% of global sales), this new generation will have to be done. On the one hand, it must keep its regular customers, and secondly, it must make eyes to the owners of Class A, the new version will go fight a new segment. A dynamic silhouette

An excellent road 

Momentum style is also found at the wheel of the new Class B, which provides a road behavior closer to that of a compact than a minivan. This feeling is amplified by the direct and precise steering. In addition, the most demanding may opt for a sports suspension (optional). 

Side of the coin, when the Class B features the sport chassis and wheels massive 17 or 18 inches, suffered in comfort, especially when the road is not perfectly flat. 

Four engines for the launch 

To move, the Mercedes B-Class offers four engines: two petrol and 156 hp 122 that replace blocks 116 and 136 hp, and two diesels of 109 hp and 136 hp versions supplant 109 and 140 hp. 

During our tour of Austria, we took over the version of 136 hp between 3600 and 4400 rev / min, commonly called BlueEFFICIENCY. This block shows voluntary beyond 4000 r / min without losing its liveliness. Torque of 300 Nm available from 1600 rev / minute offers flexibility in urban use. 
Associated with the new automatic gearbox 7G-DCT seven, and a cut-off engine off ECO start / stop. The set provides a great driving pleasure. In use, the 7G-DCT is rather a comfort-oriented DSG Volkswagen, more ready to change gear driving sustained. 

A tasteful interior 

The atmosphere on board is still fine and we see a clear evolution from the current generation (W 245). The rectangular console gives way to a new design more air. Characterized by three aerators in sporty design reminiscent of the SLS AMG and a new multimedia system, non-removable, largely inspired by the touch pads. But do not expect to sail on the screen as usual on your shelf, because the system is not touch-Mercedes, fingerprints and stains make the case to say. What do you want the Premium is a philosophy! 

Driving, lovers of a high driving position will be delighted to dominate the way the eyes, while the many-way power driver's seat of the finish Fascination, can find a good driving position. The ergonomics of the controls proved excellent, once you got used to the codes of the firm to the star (fire buttons at the bottom left). It should also be accustomed to the gear selector typed in the American (right of the steering wheel). 

Attributes minivan 

Like any self-respecting people carrier, the new Class B has to offer storage space. This is the case! At the front there are two doors cans and a bottle rack, and rear two cup holders are located in the center armrest. There are also shelves for the rear passengers. However, the bins doors are quite narrow. And the rear seat offers only a 2/3-1/3 modularity, in any three independent seats. 

Note also that the boot space now offers 486 liters (512 liters for 3008, against 544 liters for the current generation. This choice can offer more space at the back, despite a wheelbase down 0.9 cm. This gives room for legs and a headroom of the most comfortable. 

A complete list of equipment 

Many facilities are standard in the image of the Attention Assist (drowsiness detection system), the Collision Prevention Assist System (which prepares the optimization of braking), air conditioning Thermatronic, or the wrapped steering wheel leather. 

As is often the Rhine, many other facilities are present depending on the finish or optional. We will note, to name a few, Becker Navigation Map Pilot Optional 1000 euros (standard on Fascination), the system Comand Online Media, the bi-xenon headlamps as an option for 1050 euros (standard on Sport and Fascination) which includes the washing headlights, daytime running lights and the lights and turn signals to LED technology, or the optional Distronic Plus euros in 1050 which maintains a safe distance with the vehicle in front. 

In conclusion 

The new generation Mercedes B-Class now has a stronger character line. As each generation, the manufacturing quality is increasing, and the list of equipment ever more complete. Furthermore, prices have not been inflation. If our test model is 37 200 euro currency, count 28 900 euros for the first prize in the 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY version. The vintage 2011 Mercedes B-Class will be available at dealerships from November 19.
